*Demands arrest of ex-Gov Yari
*Accuses him of inciting violence
*Says over N2.8 billion paid as ransom
The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Alhaji (Dr.) Sani Abdulahi Shinkafi has peti- tioned President Muhammadu Bu- hari Over alleged unguarded and provocative statements made by the former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari wherein he was allegedly heard inciting members of his faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to move against the State Government.
The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Alhaji Dr. Sani Abdulahi Shinkafi has petitioned President Muhammadu Buhari Over alleged unguarded and provocative statements made by the former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari wherein he was heard inciting members of his faction of the All Progressives Congress(APC) to move against the State Government.
In the open letter to the President which was copied to the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinachi, the Service Chiefs, the Chief Of Defence Staff and the Chairman Of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Shinkafi said that he is constrained to write you the letter to draw the attention of President Buhari to the ugly development so that you call him to order.
According to him “Over N2.8 billion has been paid as ransom by victims of kidnapping and Over 6483 women have been widowed in attacker by bandits in the state. I hereby demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of the former Governor of Zamfara State Hon Abdulaziz Yari for disobeying the subsisting order of the security agencies banning any forms of public gatherings, political parties meetings and associations,Rallies,across the State.
“It is in record that about 8500 Private militia popularly called Yansakai were recruited illegally by the past administration in all the seventeen (17) Emirates through the former commissioner for Local and Chieftaincy affairs Hon Bello Dankande Gamji without the Bill being passed by State House Assembly establishing the vigilante service group and assent by the Governor as a law governing recruitment and operations of Yansakai.
Shinkafi who is also the Secretary of the Board Of Trustees Of APGA noted that “It is still refesh in our memory and reported to security agencies the arrest, abduction, torture and killing of innocents citizens in the markets, streets, and with bodies lying on the streets and nobody could stop them from the jungle justice that went on in the whole of Zamfara State.
“Abdulaziz has been seen publicly inciting his factional APC members not to recognize the administration of His Excellency Bello Muhammad Matawalle as the Executive Governor of Zamfara State but insisted that they called him a sole administrator.
“Severally, he has rejected the 24th May 2019 Judgement of the Supreme Court of Nigeria painting the eminent jurists of the Apex court with all kinds of names.
“There are weighty allegations that the former Governor is planing with these unrepentant armed bandits to distrupt the peace accord in the state.
He stated that “the volunteer vigilantee groups Yansakai loyal to Yari have refused to embrace the disarmanents and arms control programme of the State government to augment peace accord initiated by Governor Matawalle.
“There are intelligence reports that Yansakai recruited in Gummi had concluded plans to attack some fulani settlements to ignite another security breach in the State and set the State on fire again.
He noted that “It is on record that the Zamfara State Police Command has on September 24th,2019 following intelligence reports that Boko Haram was planning to attack and bomb some places in the State like the Central Mosque Gusau, Maradum, Anka, Talata Marafa, Kauran Namoda and Tsafe and the planned assasination of the Deputy Governor and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly banned all forms of political rallies, meeting and processions in the state.
“However, in flagrant disregard to the subsisting order banning all forms of political rallies, meetings and processions in the state the former Governor Abdulaziz Yari was heard recently inciting his supporters to revolt against the state government with the sole aim of making the state ungovernable for the Matawalle led government. The rule of law is incorporated in the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended and its supremacy ensures that no person can claim to be above the law, he must obey it whether if he is rich,poor,the ruler or the ruled.
He was heard asking his supporters to resist the Zamfara State Urban and Regional planing Board (ZUREPB) the Enforcement of Town planning law cap 130 and Zamfara State Edict No 2 of 1996. For building Approval permission by the agency of government with the last drop of their blood adding”if any attempt is made to demolish any house in Zamfara State all of us here, APC will resist the demolition of houses in Zamfara State until all of us are killed.That he will lead the protest .He boasted that they APC is controlling the federal government ,the security agencies and National Assembly he know how to deal with the Governor .
we will help him to destroy the State”
Former Governor Abdulazeez Yari should be investigated and possibly prosecuted for crime against humanity for the past eight years.
It is still fresh in our memory that the former Governor Abdul’aziz Yari imported 1500 double barred guns in order to arm vigilante groups in the State.
Sources have revealed that the Federal Government ordered the seizure of the guns based on the alleged contradiction of Fire Arms Laws of Nigeria.
Guns procurement is not one of the lawful duties of any State Government, also such action is unwise and unlawful.
“I hereby request you to use your good offices to compel the Inspector General Of Police to as a matter of urgent National importance to initiate investigation and possibly order the arrest and prosecution of the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State without any delay for the sustenance of the peace initiative in the State.We hereby demand for his immediate arrest and prosecution to avoid a break down of law and order in Zamfara State.
“I implore Mr. President to as a matter of urgency the call the APC big wig to order and stop his interfering in the fight against corruption I have written several petitions against former Abdulaziz Yari over allegations of corruptions,award of fictitious contracts, abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds and money laundering worth over 900 billion Naira to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Commission has established evidence of the misappropriation of over 200 billion Naira yet they have refused to arrest and proscute him for the crime he committed against the citizens of Zamfara State.
“Is Abdulaziz Yari above the law of the land ?
Or is the EFCC doing selective justice and only those in the opposition parties are arrested and prosecuted? Dr Orji uzor Kalu, Senator Joshua Dariye, Rev Jolly Nyame were all prosecuted and sent to prison by the same EFCC. Why is A.A Yari still enjoying the air of freedom while these former Governors are serving their jail terms .
He noted that “the following had persons have been arrested,investigated, arraigned and are being tried by the EFCC, former Governors Saminu Turaki , Murtala Nyako, Babangida Aliyu, Attahiru Bafarawa, Ibrahim Shekarau, Mamuda Aliyu Shinkafi, Ramalan Yaro, Bukola Saraki, Ikedi Ohakim, Rochas Okorocha, Nasamu Dakingari, Ibrahim Shema, Gabriel Suswam,Jonah Jang, T.A Orji, Akpabio, Ladoja, Ayodele Fayose, Are this personalities mentioned not human beings?
“I demand that Magu should immediately invite,investigate and prosecute Abdulaziz Yari with out any further delay.
On the call for the sack of Service Chiefs, Shinkafi said that “Mr. President should ignore the National Assembly Members calling for sacking of Service Chiefs as they are acting on the scripts of enemies of Mr President Buhari’s achievement in fighting insurgency and armed banditry in the country. There is political undertones to the whole call for the sack.
“It is a known fact that former Governor of Zamfara State Yari is one of the sponsors of the election of the Senate President Ahmad Lawan and the Speaker Of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajqbiamila for personal political gains and because he fell out with some of the service chiefs when he was Governor, he is now using them to ask for the sack of these security chiefs.
“It is on record that President Buhari asked for approval of the National Assembly for 1billion US dollars to fund the fight against insurgency and armed banditry in the country, a request that the senators opposed.
“The questions for determination is will the service chiefs use their hands to fight insurgency, armed bandits, armed robbery, kidnapping , cattle rustling, and militancy?
The current security situation in the country needs the cooperation between President and members of the National assembly to provide the necessary logistics to security to carry out their constitutionally assigned duties” he added.
