The Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance (CILG), USA, Nigerian chapter, is seeking to partner with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on measures to create safety on Nigerian roads. The collaboration also includes using the rich resources of the institute to enhance leadership skills and capacity for management and staff of the FRSC. This was made known by the country director of CILG, Dr. Segun Ojarotade FCILG, when he led the Board of Trustees (BOT) members of the institute on a courtesy visit to the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi MNI, FCILG, in Abuja.
In his welcome note, the Deputy Corps Marshal, AHR Shehu Zaki FCI, who received the delegation on behalf of the Corps Marshal of the FRSC expressed regrets on the unavoidable absence of the Corps Marshal which he attributed to an urgent assignment in Gombe State. He said the FRSC is ready to partner with the CILG as this will afford the Federal Road Safety Corps a better chance to understand CILG and how both organizations can work together on a common ground. DCM Zaki gave a brief background of the FRSC when it was established in 1988 with the mandate to adopt a system approach to managing road accidents in accordance with the United Nations’ goal of reducing road accidents to zero level. He thanked the Countryl Director and the BOT members for appreciating the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of FRSC for his leadership achievements thus far, which culminated in his conferment as a Fellow of the institute last year.
