…Calls for a level Plane Ground for All

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kogi State Council, ( NUJ) Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh on Wednesday charged the Committe to exhibit high sense of patriotism and commitment to conduct free, fair and credible election devoid of rancour and partisanship.
The Chairman gave the charge while inaugurating the Credential Committee at the NUJ press centre, Lokoja saddle with the conduct of the forthcoming Council Election in the state.
He advised the committee to work closely with the Council in the execution of their mandate, urging the committee not consider itself as an alternative to the executive council of the Union.
He called for equity, fairness and provision of a level plane ground to all contestants as they should be guided by the NUJ constitution in their day to day activities.
The Chairman reminded the committee members that they were chosen based on their tract records in previous assignments and advised
them not to betray the confidence repose in them.
He assured the committee members of giving the needed moral, material and financial support in the discharge of their assignment.
The committee has Ebenezer Adurodijah as Chairman while Olusegun Oyenibi and Grace Kato are to serve as members.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Ebenezer Adurodijah said his appointment to serve was a great honour for him and his members.
He promised to be neutral in the assignment, vowing to apply strictly the constitution in the process and conduct of the election.
According to him , All the Chapels of the Union would be consulted in other to have free, fair and credible election, “What we need to succeed in the duty is your cooperation and credible advice from the stakeholders” he urged.
In his contribution, the two time Chairman of the Union and a National Trustee of NUJ, Comrade Alih Atabor said, he is proud of the achievement of his successor , Momohjimoh Adeiza who he added has been able to raise the bar of the management of the Council.
He added that, he was confident in the ability of the committee members who are men of proven records in union matters to conduct the most acceptable election in recent times.
While encouraging members of the union to present themselves to contest for various positions said his comment on the performance of the incumbent chairman should not be misconstrued to mean outright endorsement.
