Kebbi Government promises scholarship, healthcare to children of soldiers

Kebbi State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Bagudu has promised to provide adequate care of the children of soldiers in form of scholarships, healthcare services, empowerment and employment in the state.

Bagudu affirmed this when he joined his wife Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu in hosting the leadership of Nigeria Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA)
lead by by the wife of the General Officer Commanding(GOC) 8 division, Nigeria Army Sokoto ,Hajiya Fatima Aminu Bande in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

He commended members of the association for the visit and the contribution of the Army towards ensuring the state remained peaceful in the country.

” My administration has placed premium on the welfare of soldiers and their families, and their children will enjoy scholarships even after they are transferred out of the state ”, he said.

The governor further announced his preparedness to support the association to establish entrepreneurship and pursuit of education, advising NAOWA to harmonise their activities with others to enjoy maximum benefits.

The wife of the governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu pledged to collaborate with the women in ensuring adequate public enlightenment, mobilisation and sensitisation of their members about the importance to visit hospital for early detection of cancer and pregnant women on delivery.

She commended the officers wives for their care to children and widow of fallen soldiers, saying that her foundation cancer Medicare would work jointly with the for optimum results.

Earlier, the wife of the General Officer 8 Division Nigeria Army Sokoto who is the chairperson of the association ,Hajiya Fatima Aminu Bande said they were at government house to register their appreciation for the support and the care to soldiers and their families by the incumbent administration.

” We solicits for more support and assistance to enable the association setup education centre to cater for the children of widows and soldiers ”, she said.

She further expressed appreciation to the government on behalf of the National President Wife of the Chief of Staff for providing scholarship, sallah and Christmas gifts to widows and soldiers.

The Authority correspondent reports that the wife of the GOC presented a souvenir to the wife governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu in appreciation of her support and contribution to the welfare of members of NAOWA.
