Enyimba were held to a 1-1 draw by Guinean club Horoya in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup tie in Aba on Sunday.
Austine Oladapo gave Enyimba the lead in the 19th minute, firing home a free kick from outside the box.
Substitute Boniface Haba was Horoya’s hero as he helped the Guinean giants secure a 1-1 draw against Enyimba in the first leg of their Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final tie.
Lamine N’Diaye’s men were poor in the first half and deservedly went behind to Augustine Oladapo’s 18th-minute effort.
Oladapo drove home a ferocious left-footed strike after the Guineans’ backline was caught off guard from a free-kick by the Nigerians.
The visitors squandered two golden opportunities to restore parity, with Alseny Camara and Aristide Bance missing clear cut chances, as Enyimba went into the half-time break with a slim lead.
In the second half, Haba replaced misfiring Bance while injured Sekou Camara was replaced by Tafadzwa Kutinyu to help Horoya’s chances of getting a positive result.
That paid off with 20 minutes to go when Haba headed into the bottom left corner after a clever cross from Boubacar Samassekou.
Victor Mbaoma then missed a late chance to get Fatai Osho’s men the victory heading into the return leg on March 8 inside Conakry’s Stade du 28 Septembre
