NAUTH Dragged To Court over death of a lawyer

Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) has been dragged to Federal High Court Awka Division over negligence of duty that led to the death of Barr Chukwuemeka Chukwuma

Mrs Ebele Chukwuma instituted the case on behalf of herself and the entire family while NAUTH and her board management are the defendants.

The plaintiff who has ten lawyers and the NAU Class 2007 set as counsels alleged that late Chukwuemeka Chukwuma, a legal practitioner due to negligence and dereliction of duty by the NAUTH staffers.

The plaintiff accused the health institution of not giving whole treatment to the deceased lawyer who is a father of four.

The plaintiff widow of Barr Chukwuma claimed that she and her husband’s professional colleagues as well as the NAU Class 2007 set made spirited efforts to get quality treatment for the deceased by paying for everything demanded by the hospital but was never used for him.

She also claimed that at the point of death, the late legal luminary was not placed on oxygen b inspite of passionate plea by his window and colleagues.

Our reporter contacted the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of NAUTH, Prof Anthony Igwegbe who said the hospital has not been served.

He said the hospital’s lawyer will look into it and do the needful when they receive the surmon.
