The member representing Makurdi South State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly Hon. Terwase Aondoakaa Monday donated water pumping machines to Vegetable Producers and Sellers Co-operative Society, Agboughoul in Makurdi local government area of Benue State.
The AUTHORITY gathered that Aondoakaa was elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in 2019 and also chairs the House Standing Committee on Agriculture.
He said the donation was his token of appreciation for the people whom he informed overwhelmingly voted him into the House as well as other candidates of the PDP during the 2019 general elections.
” I am here to say thank you for overwhelmingly voting for me and our party, the PDP during the 2019 general elections, you will recall that during the campaigns I did promised I was not going to abandon you when elected and that is exactly why I have come to say am greatful to you.
“As Bussiness women engaged in the production and sales of Vegetable, and having also been around long enough to know some of your challenges, I thought it wise to purchase and donate to you this water pumping machines with a firm believe that ithey will go a long way in enhancing your businesses as my token of appreciation. I shall continue to do more as resources available at my disposal would permit”.
He charged them to make judicious use of the machines so they could impact positively on their economic lives.
Leader of Agboughoul Community Zaaki Vincent Tseson in his remarks described the gesture as been the first from any elected member from the Constituency since it’s creation.
He recalled how Hon. Aondoakaa had earlier intervend to put a halt to some neferious activities by Fulani herdsmen when the issue was brought to his notice and urged the people to at all times avail him the support that would spur him to continue in the spirit.
While praying God to continue to guide and protect the lawmaker, Zaaki Tseson equally tasked other elected officials to borrow a leaf from Aondoakaa’s style of leadership so that those they represent could feel the impact of participating in the electoral process.
He charged the women not to divert the machines to other useses other than those they were donated for saying, doing so would defeat the purpose for which the donation was meant to achieve.
For the PDP Chairman for Makurdi local government , Yunusa Garba, the gesture did not come to the party as a surprise giving the antecedents of the lawmaker over the years.
Earlier while receiving the machines, leader of the beneficiaries, Veronica Akile, informed that by the donation, one of their major challenges had been addressed.
She thanked the lawmaker over his well thought idea, saying it was greatly going to improve on their bussiness stressing further that the issue of getting water to irrigate their farms had been one of their major challenge and pledged their resolve to make good use of the machines.
Correspondent gathered that ten water pumping machines were giving out to the Co-operative society with an undisclosed amount of money, a cream of PDP faithful it was further gathered graced the event.
