Rules violation: NYSC extends service year of 8 erring corps members in Kebbi

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kebbi State, has extended the service year of eight Corps members by four months for violating the rules of the scheme.

The state NYSC Coordinator, Mr Mustapha Muhammad made the disclosure on Thursday in Birinin Kebbi at the passing out ceremony of the 2019 batch `A’ corps members held at Haliru Abdul multipurpose sports complex Birnin Kebbi.

He said ” the total of 2318 corps members were duly registered on camp. Relocation exercise saw 1053 number move to other States of the federation, while 355 corps members relocated in to the state, thus bringing the total number of the corps members of the batch to 1266.

” Out of these corps members bound for passing out today ,3 were approved by NYSC Kebbi State Governing Board for Honours award, 3 will be given commendation letters, while 10 have their service extended, 8 corps members will be repeating their service for various offences contravening the law of the scheme.

The State coordinator stated that the NYSC scheme through its collaboration with different government agencies such as BOI ,SMEDAN ,CBN,UNICEF, MDGs,
IFAD and other developmental programmes have continued to affect lives of Nigerian citizenry in the areas of rural development, job creation and educational provision ;you are encouraged to keep these values growing as you proceed to

He commended the Kebbi State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for demonstrate his love for the youth of the nation .while also confirming the pride position the scheme enjoys in your administration.

Muhammad urged the Corps members to always cherished the love and affinity you started with your host communities and always engender same with all Nigerian, no matter their tribe or creed .

Earlier the Kebbi State government, Alhaj Abubakar Atiku Bagudu who was represented by his deputy governor, Alhaji Samila Yombe said the corps members are ushered into another phase of your lives after this ceremony and subsequent discharge from the service.

He said ” I wont you know that Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources which, if tapped and converted to finished goods, are capable of making this nation great.

Bagudu said on behalf of the state government and the good people of Kebbi state, I congratulate you all on the successful completion of your service year in the state.
