Police arrest 23 kidnap, robbery, cult suspects in Rivers

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura, has disclosed that the Command in the last three months arrested 23 suspected allegedly involved in various criminal activities across the state.

Dandaura disclosed this on Wednesday, at the Command’s headquarters, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, during a briefing with journalists on their achievements in fighting crime in Rivers.

According to the police Chief, the suspects include; 10 armed robbers, seven kidnappers and six cultists.

Numerous arms and ammunition, as well as military uniforms were among the items recovered from the hoodlums.

Dandaura commended the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, for boosting the jobs with 89 operational vehicles.

He disclosed that with the operational vehicles and determination of his officers and men, police were able to sanitize crime-prone East West road, Port Harcourt-Owerri road, Ogoni axis among others. declared that officers of the command would not succumb to influence from any quarters.

He however, stated that he and his officers were not politicians and would continue to remain apolitical in discharging their professional jobs.

He said: “Nobody can influence us. We don’t condone that. We are not politicians. We are here to discharge our jobs professionally. We not hiding anyone”.
