Respect zoning arrangements, Abia PDP tells members ahead of congress

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State chapter, has advised its members to respect the zoning arrangements in their various blocs ahead of the party’s Ward, Council and State congress.

PDP Chairman in the state, Chief Johnson Onuigbo who gave the advice at a press conference after a joint meeting with the state congress committee members and the party’s council chairmen, Wednesday in Umuahia said “PDP believes in zoning”.

His words : Zoning is not new in PDP. We are a product of zoning, and we have directed our people to respect zoning arrangements in their areas.”

Onuigbo who announced dates for the congress to be March 14, 28 and April 11 for the ward, LGA and State congresses respectively, expressed optimism that the exercise would be hitch – free.

The PDP Chairman who said the party would not tolerate imposition and impunity, assured that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure only competent and popular aspirants emerge at the congresses.

He said 35% slot had already been ceded to women at various exco members of the party at all levels.

Asked where the PDP had zoned its governorship ticket in 2023, Onuigbo said it was still too early to disclose the zone, assuring that “when the time comes we shall know “.

Present at the briefing were members of the Congress Committee including some former State Chairmen of the party, Dr. Ndidi Okereke, and Chief Benson Ezem.
