An aspirant for the position of the PDP chairmanship in Nasarawa state, has reacted over the failed congress that took place recently, saying the exercise was a great disservice to the people of the state.
According to him, if what transpired on that day will be allowed, it will be tantamount to playing into the hands of the opposition.
Jibrin Sabo Keana, who is seeking to be elected state chairman of the party in Nasarawa state told journalists on Sunday that he was not particular about being the state chairman of the party, but interested in returning the party to power in future elections in the state.
He insisted that to return the party to power in the state, it cannot continue on faulty foundations as predicted by the present excos but by legitimizing all processes from the wards ,local government and the state levels, who can be accepted not through a kangaroo arrangement.
He however stated that following the failure of the congress which was championed by the present exco, various interest groups have submitted petitions to the appeal committee.
“I want you to get me right here that the efforts we are making and putting in place are to the benefit of the National working Committee, so we are not interested in discussing people or the state exco.
“But we are reminding ourselves and as well as reawakening our focus to the obligations we owe our people and the country at large, from the point of view that the foundation of democracy rest with the wards congresses, once the first step is faulty, every other structure will collapse on top of it,” he said.
Jibrin further stated that PDP brought democracy to Nigerians , therefore it is duty bound that the PDP most nurture and secure democracy for the good of the country.
He added that the cry for legitimacy isn’t peculiar to Nasarawa state alone , but everywhere “If the incumbent exco did not do what is right for the purposed of strengthening the system it should be addressed,” Jibrin said.
