Anambra state Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev John Ndubuisi has said that the Christian body supports zoning in the forthcoming Anambra state Governorship election billed for 2022, because of its attendant benefits of all sections, blocs, regions, zones or parties as it gives one a sense of belonging. He said, it zoning will aid stability, justice, equity and fair play in the system.
Rev Ndubuisi in a press conference addressed in Onitsha used the leadership of CAN as example telling journalists that the leadership of CAN in Anambra State and at the national level rotates among the five Christian blocs that make up CAN on the premise of zoning, thus, he advised political parties in Anambra State to emulate CAN and by so doing address the issue of zoning and power rotation ahead of the forthcoming governorships election.
The cleric who noted that he was elected as CAN Chairman from ECWA/TEKAN bloc of following rotation said that CAN has started praying for a peaceful and smooth governorships election, advising politicians to as usual give peace a chance before, during and after the election. He also advised the electorates against money politics saying that it is wrong for people to take like five thousand naira or even less for immediate satisfaction and lose all about service of good governance that could give him a better job, good road, quality education for the children among other things on the long run.
“These terrorists called herdsmen are worse than coronavirus by the way they perpetrate all sorts of atrocities against Christians, killing people, allowing their cows to destroy farmlands, kidnapping and robbing people and even raping women and girls. It is a pity. Christians are worst victims of insecurity in Nigeria because they apparently the target. Look at how terrorists and bandits massacre Christians in virtually all parts of the North. And President Muhammadu Buhari is only condemning the acts through his media aids and given assurances to fish out and punish the actors but we are not seeing the result his assurances
