Following the serious health disaster being faced by countries from the novel coronavirus, the management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has taken measures to protect staff and customers from the deadly virus.
According a Statement made available to journalists by KEDCO’s Head of Coorporate Communication, Mr. Ibrahim Sani Shawai, the management stated that several measures have been taken to ensure that most of its services run online in the interest of everyone, while preventive measures have also been taken at KEDCO’s various offices like the use of hand sanitizer, hand washing tools as well as infrared thermometer guns to check temperature before entry into offices.
Amongst the online service measures taken is the mode of payment.
This is triggered by the need to ensure compliance with the social distancing tip advocated by the World Health Organisation and the Federal and State Governments where no more than 50 persons are permitted in a gathering. In this regard, the management advised that anyone coming to any of its offices must be willing to subject themselves to the measures put in place to ensure that staff, customers and visitors stay safe and protected.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KEDCO, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna said the measures were taken in view of the need to ensure that the health of any KEDCO stakeholder was not put at risk, stressing that the COVID-19 doesn’t respect anyone who takes issues of health with levity.
Gwamna further called on Nigerians to as a matter of urgency follow all guidelines made available by government at all levels, adding that the pandemic is a threat to our collective existence as humans.
While appreciating the series of sacrifices by medical personnel across the world, the Kano DisCo boss commended government at all levels for the measures taken so far to not only protect but inform citizens about the virus which has put serious pressure on medical personnel across the globe.
