Takaful Insurance Company Donates N10 Million To Kano COVID-19 Fund, Insures Health Workers For N40 Million

From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano

A reputable Kano-based Insurance Company, Salam Takaful Insurance Company Limited has donated the sum of N10, 000, 000.00 to the Kano state Fund Raising Committee on COVID-19 to help in alleviating the effects of the lethal virus shattering the international community.

The Shariah-compliant Insurance Company, also offered Takaful life cover to the value of N40, 000, 000.00 for healthcare workers directly involved in the care of COVID-19 patients.

The state Commissioner for Information and member of the Committee, Malam Muhammad Garba, announced the donation while giving updates on the activities of the committee, in a statement issued on Sunday in Kano.

He said the donation, which was contained in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello and jointly signed by the Chairman and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Alhaji (Dr.) Misbahu Muhammad Bashir and Abdul A. Kassim respectively, was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

Malam Garba appealed to organizations and wealthy individuals within and outside the state to donate generously towards the committee set up to seek and collect donations in cash or kind and distribute same to those in need so as to cushion the harsh effect of the measures being taken by government against the spread of Covid-19 in Kano.

He stated that, anyone willing to donate to the committee in cash should pay/transfer to this account: Kano State COVID-19 Support, UBA, Account No: 1022751785, while donations in kind are also collected at a warehouse at number 94, Maganda Road and Kano State Government Printing Press, Emir’s Palace Road.
