Representatives of ethnic nationalities in Kano have joined the league of donors to the Kano state Fund Raising Committee on Covid-19 to assist lessen the effects of the damaging virus shocking the entire world.
In a statement containing updates on the donations in kind and cash, a member of the committee and Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said the Oba of Yoruba in Kano contributed the sum of N250, 000.00, while the Yoruba Community Association gave N250, 000.00; Edo Community in Kano, N100, 000.00; Northern Minority in Kano, N40, 000.00.
He said other donors are Angel Spinning and Dyeing Ltd, N500, 000.00; Silver Plastic, N200, 000.00; Kaura Goje Nig. Ltd, one truck of Masara flour.
Malam Garba also said that Aspira Nig. Ltd donated hand soaps/sanitizers and drums of water at mosques/places of worship, offices, market places e.t.c as well as engagement of 200 personnel for spraying disinfectants in the nooks and corners of the state.
The Statement further stated that, ‘’organizations and wealthy individuals within and outside the state to donate generously towards the committee set up to seek and collect donations in cash or kind and distribute same to those in need so as to cushion the harsh effect of the measures being taken by government against the spread of Covid-19 in Kano.’
