COVID-19:State tertiary institutions produce hand sanitisers, donate to Kebbi taskforce

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Higher Education, Prof. Muktar Umar Bunza has presented assorted locally produced sanitisers, facemask and handbills made by state tertiary institutions to COVID19 taskforce in the State.

Bunza presented the items yesterday to the Chief of Staff, Government House, he said that ,the gesture was sequel to the joint ingenuity of the donors.

He stated that, the donation of the items was to bolster the containment measures put in place by Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, against Corona Virus pandemic.

The commissioner explained that, the products were locally produced by the Entrepreneur units of the institutions, as part of their efforts to contribute to the war against the pandemic.

” If you can all remember in 2018, His Excellency, the Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, had charged our institutions to be innovative, inventive and whatever happens, we should come up with solutions that will be our contribution as the representatives of the intellectual class of the state.

” So, what we have here are the collective contributions and the products of our Institutions,”he averred.

Bunza further stated that the donors included University of Science and Technology, Aliero,the Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari and College of Agriculture Zuru.

Others were College of Preliminary Studies Yauri, Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu,College of Health Technology, Jega and College of Nursing, Birnin Kebbi.

” The sanitary equipment produced by the tertiary institutions he said included 1000 pieces of hand sanitizers, 800 liquid soaps and one hundred face masks, as well as enlightment handbills, pamphlets and drama CD plates in Hausa and English.

They contain public enlightment on plausible ways to contain the disease, which according to him,” were an important aspect of the campaign against Covid 19 ”, he said.

Earlier, the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, commended the institutions for such an invaluable gesture and achievement, urging them to sustain researches, for societal growth.

Argungu charged the state Task Force on Covid-19 to distribute the items among public places, including markets, motor parks, Mosques and Churches, for public use as precaution against the coronavirus disease .

He announced that, Governor Atiku Bagudu has ordered strict enforcement of the restriction of movement of people into the state from all entry points to check the spread of covid-19 especially at the border areas.

The state Task Force chairman on Covid 19, the Commissioner for Health , Jafar Muhammed (Clean), thanked the institutions for their contribution towards the fight against the disease.

Jafar promised that, the items will be judiciously used for the purpose they are meant for and will add up to the already existing measures put in place against Covid 19 in the state
