In its contribution to the fight against the spread of corona virus disease (COVID-19), the Enugu State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr Ujogu Sam, led a delegation of staff and corps members to donate cartons of hand sanitizers and face masks produced by corps members to the State Government.
Making the presentation, the State Coordinator thanked the State Government for the opportunity, adding that he is aware of the efforts of the government to contain the spread of the virus in the state.
He said that the NYSC had been in the forefront of fights against diseases like AIDS, Ebola virus, Lassa fever and other dreaded diseases.
Mr. Ujogu asserted that NYSC has the capacity to be in the forefront of the campaign limited the spread of this dreaded virus.
Responding, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), acknowledged the great partnership and cooperation with NYSC and hoped it would continue.
He said that Enugu State made adequate plans to contain the spread of corona virus, stressing that the two index case in the state have tested negative and have been discharged.
He commended the NYSC for the gesture, promising to notify the governor of the donation.
On her part the Executive Secretary (SEMA) Enugu State Bar. (Mrs) Okechi Eneh, stated that the donation will go a long way to support the efforts in preventing the spread of the virus through the state’s Rapid Response Team.
The SSG, Prof. Ortuanya; the Executive Secretary, Enugu State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Bar. Eneh, and the Special Assistant to the Governor on NYSC Matters, Hon. Ferguson Nnamani, were on hand to receive the donations.
