Former Governor of Kano state and Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial District, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has shown compassion to over 1720 Kano residents and 1300 Groups in the spirit of Ramadan.
He supported the carefully selected less privileged individuals with N10, 000 each.
This is apart from his freewill donations of cash, food stuff and other items to thousands of Kano residents to cushion the effects of the lockdown occassioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The beneficiaries were drawn from Kano Central Senatorial District.
According to a Statement signed by his Media Manager, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule on Friday, 10 people have been selected to benefit from the scheme in each of the 172 Wards of the 15 Local Governments Areas that constitute the Kano Central Senatorial District.
Dr. Sule hinted that in all, 1720 beneficiaries smiled home with Malam Shekrau’s Ramadan gift.
Dr. Sule added that Shekarau has also concluded plans to empower over 1300 various interest groups, pointing out that the intervention is part of Senator Shekarau’s annual tradition of empowering the less privileged in the state.
He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to use the intervention judiciously, especially now that the state battles to survive from the lock down necessitated by Coronavirus pandemic.
Shekarau also admonished people to use the Holy Month of Ramadan to intensify their efforts in praying for God to bring an end to the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
