Covid-19 :Gov. Fintiri intensify efforts to curb spread, Index Case Victim speaks from isolation centre

As the Adamawa state government intensify efforts to curtail the spread of covid19 with total lockdown throughout the state from today, resident speaks.

George Stephen a civil servant said though the measures taken by Gov. Fintiri will check the spread in Adamawa but added that the biggest problem now is our religious leaders.

He advocated for meetings between the religious leaders, community leaders , security agencies and government on the way forward if we want Fintiri’s efforts to work.

” our pastors and imams are not helping matters at all, government should punish any one found wanting, we must protect lives and that of our families, it is he who is alive that prays, we must stop being holier than thou” he said.

Alhaji Aminu Yero a business man said it is the right steps taken by the government ” with what is happening the the Northern state today, we have no choice than to cooperate with Fintiri to keep our state safe”

I am in 100% support of all the measures put in place, I have taken the to speak with people of both religion on the need for us to remain safe but we still have a challenge and that is our religious leaders, they to do more and convince their followers on social distancing, the fight is for us all and not for Finitiri and cabinet alone”

Madam Eunice, a business woman in her opinion said ” if this stops taken will protect us fine but from what I was last time and if stringent measures are not taken against offenders then we might embark on exercises in futility.

Today the commencement of another 14 days lockdown witnessed a very scanty vehicles on the streets of Yola with very few people going to church unlike last time when there was a lockdown.

When Authority Newspaper went round only few churches had service with people observing social distancing but exceeding the approved numbers for congregation.

Meanwhile the victim of the index case in the state is very optimistic of his healing and said he has regain his health stressing that he much more better than he was when he was taken into isolation.

The index case who is colleague disclosed this through a telephone chat with our correspondent today, he said ” pretty fine and believe l will be discharged soon,they will fix date for the confirmation test, I feels better,stronger than before.”

From the conversation, our reporter further observed that the patient is in a very stable condition and is getting over the corona virus stigmatization that was done in the social media

“Hi my Brother, I’m really happy to speak with you, thank you for the prayers and I know you guys and Nigerians are standing by me. Inshallah I’m getting over and winning the war against the virus with a revamped health”.

“But you know one thing? I’m pretty good and by God’s willing I will come out negative,my prayers is that let the case index in Adamawa remain one forever.” He said

He further said that he is stable and normal that’s why he can call and pick calls at will, I remain grateful to the government of Adamawa state and to my colleagues who have been calling me from within and outside the state.
