COVID-19: Aisha Buhari Provides Palliatives To 500, 000 Households In Kano

Nigeria’s First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, on Monday, donated Personal Protective Equipments, (PPE), medical consumables and assorted food items to Kano government as part of her contribution in fighting the novel Corona Virus in the state.

Aisha who made the donations through her Special Adviser on Administration, Hadi Uba, said the items are meant for about 500,000 households in the state.

She stated that the gesture was designed to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the fight against the spread of COVID-19, and as well, boost the activities of health workers attending to COVID-19 patients.

Uba said the16 trailer loads of assorted food items including, rice, spaghetti, flour, cooking oil and milk are to be distributed in collaboration with the state government to the needy in the state.

According to him, the PPEs include 300,000 hand gloves, 300,000 face masks as well as protective gowns. Also included are ten pieced of automatic dispensers among other medical items.

The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhamad Garba, who received the donations on behalf of the state government, expressed delight over the magnanimity of the First Lady.

He assured that the items will be transparently distributed to the targeted beneficiaries, adding that, “we assure the first lady that these items, which are currently scarce will be judiciously utilised.”
