COVID-19: FG rakes in N27.1bn from CA-COVID relief fund donors

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released the names and amounts paid by donors into the Coalition Against COVID) (CA-COVID) relief fund.

The coalition as at April 23, 2020, generated funds totalling N27,160,109,011.94 from 123 donors made up of individuals, Public and private financial institutions as well as corporate establishments.

The CBN spokesman, Mr Isaac Okorafor who released the list on Tuesday said the aim of the list is to promote transparency and accountability.

According to the statement, the fund is aimed at providing not only medical equipment and materials but also to render urgently needed palliatives to the poor and vulnerable segment of the society.

Part of the statement read: “Above is a list of all contributors to the CA-COVID Relief Fund, as at Thursday, April 23, 2020 The coalition is grateful to all the institutions and individuals that have open-handedly donated to this fund.

“We urge others to consider contributing to this national solidarity to provide not only medical equipment and materials but also to render urgently needed palliatives to the poor and vulnerable segments of our society.

“We pledge to continually ensure full disclosure and accountability for all donations made. God bless us all”

The highest donors of N2 billion include the CBN, Aliko Dangote and Flood Relief Fund which donated N1.5 billion.
