COVID-19: NYSC donates face masks, hand Sanitisers, hand wash to Kebbi govt

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) yesterday donated facemasks, hand sanitisers and hand wash to Kebbi State government as parts of its contributions to combat the spread of corona virus in the state.

The NYSC State coordinator, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad presented the items to taskforce State chairman who is the commissioner of Health, the state coordinator said some corps members serving in the state, produced the items as a result of skill acquisition training in the state.

Muhammed noted that the items were donated to the government in line with the directives of the Director-General of NYSC, Brig Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, that corps members should complement efforts of the government in fighting the Covid-19, saying the donated items were produced and ascertained by the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) doctors the state.

” I am hear on behalf of Kebbi NYSC to present locally produce hand sanitisers ,facemasks and liquid hand wash which was produced by corps members as parts of its contributions to combat the spread of corona virus in the state.

He said ” COVID-19 is a global phenomena and we can’t just fold our arms looking for Federal and State government to provide solution for us, it is collective responsibility that is why we are hear to present our contribution to the state government ”, he said

The State coordinator further said that corps members are not just stop in the production of facemask, hand sanitisers also embarked on sensitization campaign and fumigation exercise in 21 local government as also part of their contributions toward preventing the spread of COVID -19 in the state.

Earlier speaking, the Commissioner for Heath who is the state taskforce chairman, Mallam Muhammad Jafar said, “This is a very laudable one. The corps members, under the supervision of NYSC, have taken the initiative in order to end the current situation of COVID-19. I am particularly impressed because these items will go a long way in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19 ”, he said.

Jafar thanked the NYSC for the gesture,for their contribution towards the fight against the disease, promising that the items would be justifiably used in the state.
