COVID-19: Onyeama donates Palliatives to Enugu state govt,Vulnerable

In what appears to be part of his home coming,the Minister of Foreign affairs,Mr Geoffrey Onyeama,yesterday donated technical equipments and food items to the government and people of Enugu state, as part of his own contribution to cushion the effect of the lockdown aftermath of COVD-19 pandemic,on the vulnerable in the state and assist the state health workers in the fight against the dreaded disease.

At an occasion held at the famous Okpara square,in which the attendance was minimised in compliance with government precautionary.measures to curtail crowd gathering,the Minister of Foreign affairs donated dozens of infra red non contact thermometers,complete PPE kits,surgical gloves,surgical masks,safety goggles etc to the state government,meant to assist the government in equipping the health workers in the state.

The Permanent Secretary,ministry of health,Dr Ifeanyi Agujuobi,who stood in for the state commissioner for health,Professor Obi Emmanuel Ikechukwu,extolled Mr Onyeama for the gesture,stating it will add to the provisions already made by the state government in containing the disease in the state.

He said the state COVID-19 committ with the support of the Enugu state government is doing all within reach to prevent the spread of the disease in the state.

He disclosed tha the four new cases recorded in the state had a travel history of having returned from Northern part of the country and said the four which comprised of two women and two Children are given all the preffered treatment to get well,just like two othsrs who are also in one of the isolation centers in the state.

He Happily announced that the two first index cases in the state have been treaged and discharged acter testingr negative to COVID-19.

The other donations which jncluded bags of Rice,Yam tubers,bags of beans,Cartons of indommie,Hand sanitizers,tissud papers,tooth lastes,towelsface masks,vegetable oils,etc were shared to those who may be considered the most vulnerable jn the state.

The list of vulnerables who benefited includes the Old Peoples home,Enugu,Red cross motherless babies home,Enugu,Mother of Christ babies home,Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu,Enugu cheshire home. Eke community association kf widows,among others.

Deacon Okey Ogbodo,who is still contending the authentic state chairman position of APC in Enugu state,who stood in for the donor,Mr Geoffrey Onyeama,said the event is burn out kf the desire of the foreign affairs minister ot impact on the welfare of the people eslecially the downtrodden,stating that is the essence of “Kwusike foundation founded by Geoffreg Onyeama.He disclosed that the gesture this time around is being executed by the “Kwusike political family in Enugu sfate in partnership with Mr Onyeama.

A Personal assistant to the foreign acfairs minister,Mr Flavour Eze,stressed that Kwusike Foundation founded by Mr Onyeama believes on the welfare of the people and to that extent has imparfed on the field of Agriculture, health and Education sector,so as to uplift the standard of life smong the grassroots and vulnersble.

Specifically,he emphasized that Mr Geoffrey Onyeama,in partnership with Enugu State Universal Education Board(ENSUBEB) organised a training workshop for some teachers in Enugu state. He stressed that more of such welfare packages wiill be unveiled by Kwusike Foundation for the vulnerables in the state.

Prince Richard Ozobu,who also spoke at the event, extolled Geoffrey Onyeama for the initiative,and prayed God Almighty to bless him abundantlly,while the commodities is shared among the downtrodden by thier representatives.
