The immediate past Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has died at the age of 60.
Baru who retired last July was said to have died on Friday night at the National Hospital in Abuja after a brief illness.
He led NNPC as it’s 18th Group Managing Director from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019.
A statement by the Corporation Spokesman, Dr. Kennie Obateru described the late CEO as a consummate Mechanical Engineer.
The statement said NNPC Group Managing Director, Mallam Mele Kyari expressed shock over the sudden death of Dr. Baru.
Mallam Kyari described him as a man ‘of exemplary character and disposition.’
