Edo guber: Ize-Iyamu’s confession confirms he is unfit to be governor – PDP

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that the confession by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Edo governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, further validated the position of the former National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole that he is unfit to hold office as a governor.

The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Olgbondiyan on Monday stressed that by Ize-Iyamu admitting that he was expelled from the university, on the recommendation of a panel chaired by the current Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), Prof. Iste Sagay, he lacks the moral rectitude to be entrusted with the position of a governor.

“Nigerians are still waiting for Ize-Iyamu to address why, according to the former APC National Chairman, he did not attend Law School as well as why Oshiomhole described him as a person that is only good for ‘night meetings’ and should not be entrusted with the governorship of Edo state.

“Certainly, Edo state, at this critical time, does not deserve a governor who will pull her backward by being weighed down by huge moral burden of daily excuses and explanations on issues and allegations of misdeeds.

“It is indeed unfortunate that the APC is now stuck with a candidate that is burdened by a huge image problem; a candidate who has no message or any blueprint to develop the state; who does not enjoy the support of the people but that of a few selfish individuals, whose interest is only to gain access to the coffers of the state” PDP stated.

The party described their candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki as a workaholic who has initiated and executed programmes and policies that have revived the state’s productive sectors, elevated the living standard of the people, returned transparency and accountability in governance and liberated the state from the stranglehold of corrupt godfathers, who are now desperately seeking to use Ize-Iyamu’s ticket to regain access to power and continue to exploit the state.

Obaseki will face the APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu in a governorship election slates for the 19th of September.

Well, PDP should hide their head in shame to have fielded Ize-Iyamu in 2016 even when they knew that he was a man with a moral burden & without integrity. For PDP to turn around & spew the garbage doesn’t tell well of the party. If they had succeeded in putting him in office against Oshiomole’s warning would they have been saying this today?
It’s also sad that of all governorship aspirant APC & Oshiomole should go back to their vomit & return a man they have once condemned publicly of not fit for the office of governor & now because of his strong followership he has become the darling of APC. May Edo people have the eyes to choose their leader who can pass the integrity test & doesn’t have any moral burden to them.
