Atiku tasks Nigerian youths on nation’s unity

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has asked Nigerian youths to show more commitment in nation building by shunning vices like nepotism while remaining patriotic, peaceful at all times.

The Waziri Adamawa while felicitating with the youth across the globe on the 20th Anniversary of the International Youth Day celebration with the theme “Youth Engagement for Global Action”, eulogized Nigerian youth for their commitment and perseverance towards the attainment of a greater Nigeria.

He reminded them that they are the leaders and today and tomorrow, adding that the task of eliminating further spread of the ravaging corona virus pandemic lies squarely on their shoulders

He added that his desire to ensure that young people take over the socio-political and economic driving seat of the country informed his decision of 40% youth inclusion in his 2019 presidential campaign; saying that he will still fulfil the promise anytime the opportunity presents itself.

“As leaders of today, and tomorrow, I enjoin you all to preach and practice peace; demonstrate patriotism at all levels; rid yourselves of nepotism and promote competence above all forms of sentiments.

“Only then can we truly have the Nigeria of our dream. I shall stay the course and continue to offer my shoulders for you all to climb because as youths, you are “Leaders of Today” Atiku stated

Why I am the best for Edo – ADC guber candidate

Mabel Oboh, African Democratic Congress, ADC’s governorship candidate in Edo State, has described her candidature as the best thing that can happen to Edo state on September 19

Oboh, who challenged Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Governor Godwin Obaseki and his APC counterpart, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to a debate ahead of the September 19 elections told journalists in Benin that the days when politicians could hide behind smear campaigns and mudslinging o win elections are over.

“I have watched with keen interests the violent clashes, name calling and the façade being put up by both the incumbent, Governor Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu of APC.

“I have discovered that this is all a game of misdirection. We should be focusing more on policies that will resolve the desperate crises in Edo State.

“I am calling on both of them to stop the fighting and get down to the business of politicking the right way by unveiling their manifestos and engaging the people of Edo State constructively and objectively.

“Let us put out our manifestos out there for public scrutiny and let the people decide. I am determined to liberate the people of Edo State from their long-suffering. “In the above light, I am challenging both Governor Godwin Obaseki and Pastor Ize-Iyamu to an open public debate with me, the way it is done in all democratic climes,

“The war must stop. ADC is well prepared to take over Edo State, because we have a tight manifesto for the people and we are forthright about our plans for the state. “And no better person can achieve this but a woman. Especially, when the men are busy exhibiting their egos and fighting,” she noted.
