Kebbi SUBEB collaborates with task force to train teachers on COVID-19

The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has collaborated with COVID-19 task force to train 2,219 teachers on COVID-19 control in Kebbi State.
The Executive Secretary of SUBEB, Hajiya Fatima Abubakar Udulu stated that to ensure absolute safety control measure for our students and teachers against COVID-19 pandemic, SUBEB in collaboration with the state task force on COVID-19 control is giving training to 1,901 headteachers, 112 JSS principals, 115 teachers and 84 supervisor.

Udulu disclosed this yesterday during flagged off training of 2,219 teachers in Birnin Kebbi.
” The State government has begun training of 2,212 public primary and secondary school teachers on COVID-19 protocols, following the reopening of schools for existing students in the state, we flagged off the with 15 mater trainers, and the 15 master trainers will be trained so as to subsequently train the targeted teachers.
”1,901 head techers, 112 Junior Secondary Schools principal, 115 teachers and 84 supervisions will be trained for seven days, ” she said.
She stated ” that the training was apt and timely considering the recent pronouncement by federal government to reopen schools, this is because precautionary measures need to be taken by school authorities to prevent the potential spread of the disease in schools.
The Executive Secretary said UBEC has earmarked some funds as COVID-19 support funds for state SUBEBs to trained teachers and head teachers on managing schools and children and ensuing safety in the post COVID-19 period.
She added that Kebbi state is among five States to access the COVID-19 support funds and the first to commence the training all over the country.
Udulu commended the Federal Government, State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders in the conduct of the program and activities .
The chairman of the task force, Alhaji Jafar Mohammed, said the training was aimed at enforcing the safety guidelines for the control of COVID-19 pandemic among the pupils and students and teachers while in Schools.
Mohammed who is the State commissioner for Heath said ”the guidelines of 20 students per classroom must be strictly adhered to.

”It is only the existing students that are in the schools, so there are sufficient class rooms for such safety measures ,” he said.
