GO Varsity gets 8 new professors, others

The management of Godfrey Okoye (GO) University, Enugu, has announced the promotion of 18 members of academic staff to the ranks of professors, associate professors and senior lecturers.

A statement made available to THE AUTHORITY in Enugu by the acting Public Relations Officer of the University, Mr Godwin Umeh, disclosed that eight of the beneficiary staff were promoted to professors, two as associate professors, while eight others were elevated to senior lecturer.

According to him, information released by the University’s Registrar, Dr Nnamdi Ene, said the promotions were based on the approval of the university’s governing council during its 25th meeting, held recently.

He gave the names of those promoted to full professors as Mrs. Felicia N. Ene (Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education as Professor of Language Education English); Nick A. Obodo (Department of Business Management as Professor of Public Administration with specialization in Human Resource Management);

The list also includes Mrs. Regina Udaba (Department of English and Literary studies as Professor of English); Michael C. Nwafor (Department of Accounting and Finance as Professor of Banking and Finance) and Rev. Fr. Dr. Donatus N. Nwobodo (Department of Educational Foundations as Professor of Education).

Others are Titus F.I. Nwanne (Department of Accounting and Finance as Professor of Banking and Finance); Sergius N. Udeh (Department of Accounting and Finance as Professor of Accounting) and Rev. Sister MarySylvia Nwachukwu, (Director Academic Planning and Services as well as of the Department of History International Studies and Diplomacy as Professor of Religion and Biblical Theology).

Professor Innocent Ferdinand Anidile Uzoechi (Department of History, International Studies and Diplomacy) was also promoted to full Professor of History before he died.

Those elevated to the rank of associate professor are Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Martin O. Obayi of the Department of Mass Communication and Rev. Fr. Dr. Ikechukwu Ani of the Department of History, International Studies and Diplomacy.

The Registrar added that the academic staff promoted to the rank of senior lecturer are Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Nwachukwu of the Department of History, International Studies and Diplomacy; Dr. Elias Igwebuike Agbo Department of Accounting and Finance; Dr. George C. Okorie of the Economics Department; Dr. Ignatius Nnamdi Aguene, Sociology/Psychology Department and Dr. Godwill Azeh Engwa, Chemical Sciences Department.

Also moved to the rank of senior lecturer of Godfrey Okoye University are Dr. Simon N. P. Nwankwo, Department of Accounting and Finance; Dr. Mrs. Hilda C. Agusiobo, Department of Educational Foundations and Dr. Mrs. Veronica C. Ude, Department of Science and Vocational Education.

The AUTHORITY reports that Godfrey Okoye (GO) University, is a private-owned institution established by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Enugu State.
