New DG National Gallery of Arts unveils plans to rejuvenate Art in Nigeria

The newly appointed Director General, of National Gallery of Arts, Mr. Ebeten W. Ivara, an Art enthusiast and experienced retired Director from the services of Cross River State has assured his Management team of going to work in full co-operation with all Staff, Board and Stakeholders and Artist to rejuvenate them towards the production of Contemporary Visual Arts of Nigeria to meet what exist in developed Countries of the world.

Mr Ivara made this known in Abuja when the esthwhile Acting Director General of National Gallery of Art, Dr. Simon Ikpakronyi formally handed over him.

The new DG assured the management of the establishment of befitting Art Gallery Complex to accommodate the works of various Artists, Masters and the young artist to display their products for attraction.

He promised to ensure that Art products will be exhibited home and abroad to attract both local and foreign earnings for the country.

Mr. Ivara further promised to establish a think-tank comprising of Art collectors, Unions of Society of Nigerian Artist to create opportunity of interaction between the Gallery and various groups of artists so as to meet up with what exists amongst the Nollywood of Nigeria and performing Musicians of Nigeria amongst others.
