Following the announcement by the Adamawa State Government that all schools will resume 12 October 2020, the Rector, Adamawa State Polytechnic, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, said the institution is fully ready to commence academic activities.

In a chat with The AUTHORITY in Yola, the rector said the various unions and associations in the school have donated over N1.7 million from their check-up dues and personal donations to the school Covid-19 Containment Committee.

He said the Committee was part of efforts put in place to make the school safe whenever the announcement is made for the resumption of learning activities by the government.

According to Prof. Umar, the school of Engineering had already produced 50 hand washing machines to be placed in different locations in the school and campuses to guard against the spread of the virus.

“As at today we have fumigated the school and our various campuses in the state.

“We have also put down rules that will ensure that Covid-19 protocols are strictly complied with,” he said.

He said learning activities have been divided into two sections, with diploma 1 students will come to school in the morning hours while diploma 2 will take their turn in the afternoon.

“The school has enough classrooms and the sitting arrangement has been made with both the students and lecturers to wear facemask,” he added.

While saying hand sanitizers will be available in classrooms, offices, hostels at the gate and in about 35 points in the school as well as thermometers to check temperature, the rector said staff have been enlightened on necessary preventive measures to take, adding that students will also be equipped with the knowledge.
