We need to provide houses for low income earners – Gov Bagudu

The Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu has said the 5,000 housing units’ project was in furtherance of efforts by his administration in providing shelter to the less privileges people who have no homes of their own in the State.

Bagudu disclosed this yesterday with Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Badaru Abubakar during the flag off of construction of 5,000 housing units for less-privileged people in the state.
“We need to provide houses for low income earners in the state. On completion, the house will be allocated free to less-privileged persons who have no homes of their own.
”The houses are to be built under a robust partnership between Kebbi State Government and the African Nations Development Programme (ANDP).

“Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties, the government provided land and Certificate of Occupancy for the project while the organisation would bear the whole financial cost of construction.

”Breakdown of the 2-bedroom bungalow shows that 1700 units would be built in Birnin Kebbi, 800 units each in Yauri and Zuru, 750 units in Argungu, 500 units in Jega, 250 units in Kamba and 200 units in Augie. At the foundation laying ceremony along Zauro road near Birnin Kebbi ”, he said.

The governor stated that Kebbi State government will provide the expansive land needed for the project, the Programme will provide the funding for the project to enable the cross section of the people of the state to own their houses.

He directed contractors engaged for the job to accelerate process for completion in view of the importance of shelter to humanity, saying that underscoring the importance of housing in the society. stated that, 21,000 plots of land will be provided to the people of the state.
The Kebbi Governor further disclosed that, the provision of affordable housing was part of the campaign promises of the APC.

He expressed delight that, in spite of the prevailing economic challenges, occasioned by raging global Coronavirus Disease pandemic, a lot of physical and social infrastructure had been put in place across the country .
According to Bagudu, this was sequel to the ingenunity, patriotism and commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The governor also described the event as a very important milestone in the history of Kebbi state,just as he happily noted that, all the contractors are indigenous and competent.

The Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar, described his Kebbi colleague as workaholic, saying, “apart from being the Sarkin Noma of Nigeria, I will also crown you as the Sarkin Gidajen Talakawa.”

The Jigawa Governor also extolled the crucial roles Bagudu was playing in national development, in politics, agriculture and other sectors.
The Director-General of ANDP, Dr. Samson Omojuyigbe, and the Country Director Jimoh Kazeem , in separate responses, said that the project would further alleviate the suffering of the people of the state, especially the vulnerable ones.
