APC has kept its campaign promises – Malami

…As Non NWC  NEC integrity group begins consultations for party unity

Amidst criticisms of the achievements of the present administration, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami SAN has maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC)  administration under President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to fulfil its campaign promises to Nigerians

Malami, who spoke when the APC Non NWC NEC integrity group paid him a courtesy call in his private office in Abuja, said the present administration had performed more than critics of the government are presenting  it to the public.

He said, “If you talk of security, notwithstanding the noise that they make all over the place that we have not succeeded, there is no justification to that allegation made by the opposition. This is a government that came at a time when indeed about 17 local governments across the nation were in the hands of the Boko Haram. This government has succeeded in reclaiming the territories. Not only reclaiming the territories in question but this is a government that came into place at a time when B/H could travel right from Sambisa down to Kano cause lots of deaths and destruction of properties.

On the achievements of the government so far, he stated “We have great and good stories to tell and that can be established factually and not out of mere rythorics. When you talk of empowerment we have not done too bad, we have indeed a lot to establish the fact that we have done unprecedently well as far as empowerment and social investments are concerned.

“When in 2018 we have course to recover about 322 million US dollars from Switzerland, Mr. President committed himself to support of those that are less privileged, those that are indigent and arising therefore, we have in place N-power program, which indeed constituted the source of support for the unemployed graduates, we have in place school feeding program which indeed was targeted at providing meals for the pupils at the primary and perhaps secondary schools level. We had trader money and the success of the program had indeed now snowballed into what we have today related to 774 local government employment scheme and among others.

“So, if you are talking of direct impact of this government in improving the welfare, wellbeing and making provision for the less privilege members of the society, I think the trader money, N-power, the school feeding program, taking 100 million people out of poverty and in fact even the agricultural policies of the government had indeed proven important tools for employment generation.

He assured the group that the party would be taking back to grassroots for it to regain its founding vision, noting that the president has in augurated a committee to that effect.

Earlier, the leader of the group, Sadiq Abubakar told the Minister that the group was going round to founders and leaders of the party to dialogue and help return the party to its glory.

He warned that, “if the leaders and founders of APC did not rise up to the challenges in the party, the Party might go into extinction.

The ruling All Progressives Congress APC and its governors have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to deepening Nigeria’s democracy.

APC Govs reaffirm commitment to nation’s democracy

“Sixty years of independence and nationhood were years with moments of rasping experiences. “Therefore, emerging as a stable democracy, we can say with confidence that the growing confidence of our people in our fledgling democratic system of governance is indisputable.

“As Governors elected on the platform of our party, APC, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles that democratic governance should lead to improved welfare for the mass of our citizens.

This imposes a responsibility on all elected representatives to work for policies that promote the well being of citizens. Guided by the manifesto of our party, since 2015, our governments in all our states controlled by the APC and at the Federal level have remained focused, implementing pro-people initiatives across all sectors

“We are proud of our accomplishments as a democratic country and as a political party and hereby restate our commitment to make all our states models of good governance with records of rapid human development and progress founded on the principles of social democracy in line with provisions of our party constitution and manifesto.
