Amahian, a former IT Officer of the bank had between August and October 2011, fraudulently inserted names and account numbers of his family members and friends on the payroll schedule of the Delta State government, being handled by Access bank and subsequently paid monies into those Accounts; defrauding the Bank of an aggregate sum of N9,344,013.23.

Upon arraignment the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges prompting the prosecution counsel, F.O. Dibang, to ask the court to convict and sentence him accordingly.

Dibang also prayed the court that the defendant make restitution to the victim of the crime.

However, the defence counsel pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as her client had become remorseful for his actions and has been in prison custody for sometime.

Justice Adegoke consequently convicted the defendant, but deferred sentencing till November 30.
