Igbo not afraid of competition – Obiozor

President-General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Prof George Obiozor, on Friday stressed that the Igbos would succeed in their quest for one of their own to be elected Nigeria’s president if they are determined.

Obiozor also noted that the South East zone is not at war with anybody but wanted to be treated the same way with other ethnic groups in the country.

Obiozor spoke in Abuja at a grand reception on Friday organised in his honour by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the 19 northern states.

According to him, what the Igbo needed was peace and unity of purpose and not propaganda to be able to achieve their goal.

He also stated that the zone is not afraid of competition with other ethnic groups in its quest to produce the president but required a level playing field adding that the only way to recognise a federation is through sharing.

“It’s time for us to speak truth to power. The Igbos are not at war with anybody. All we want is to be treated the same with other people. We need peace and unity, all these are not got on platter of propaganda.

“What the Igbos want is a level playing field. We want an Igbo president, we are not afraid of competition. The only way to recognise a federation is shading. We can get it once we are determined,” the Ohanaeze president general said.
