The United Business Women Association (UBWA) of Nigeria and Diasporas has conferred on Dr. Zainab Jamilu Gwamna, wife of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Director of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr. Jamilu Gwamna, an award of excellence in appreciation of her service to humanity.
According to a Statement by Ibrahim Sani, Media Aide to Dr. Gwamna, the event took place in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja with dignitaries from all walks of life, gracing the occasion.
The leader of the Association, Hon Mrs. Nkiruka Duru, while presenting the award, said they decided to organise the event in order to honour women of excellence, who sacrifice their time, energy and resources to uplift the less privileged women and children in the society.
Dr. Zainab Gwamna is the Executive Chairlady, Family Trust and Care Foundation, an organization that is supporting less privilege in the society as well as carrying out empowerment programmes.
Dr. Zainab whose philanthropic activities cover different sectors of human endeavours has empowered women economically to ensure that their vulnerability to poverty was drastically reduced.
Dr. Zainab, an astute professional is a Chartered Accountant and a Fellow of Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria, Institute of Corporate Auditors and Accountants and also Institute of Chartered Economics of Nigeria.
