NDE Trains 1,548 Graduands On Vocational Skills, 42 For Kogi

The Kogi State Coordinator of National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Mallam Zakari Abubakar, on Wednesday in Lokoja said that the training is to enhance proficiency.

Abubakar said the Directorate has commenced further training nationwide in vocational skills acquisition for her graduated 1,548  under her advanced National open apprenticeship scheme (A-NOAS) to enhance their self reliance.

Addressing  42 successful trainees from Kogi State at their orientation programme held in Lokoja on Wednesday, Mallam Abubakar, said that the scheme was designed to enable these graduated trainees of the Basic Open Apprenticeship Scheme acquire additional skills in their various trades for improved efficiency and proficiency.

He said that the training will last for three months during which these trainees will be paid monthly stipends and the master trainers will also receive allowances from NDE.

In a keynote address, the Acting Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, who was represented by Mr. Charles Aye, a staff of the Directorate at the headquarters, reiterated the determination of the Directorate to implement the lofty programmes from the presidency.

He commended the burning desire of President Muhammadu Buhari to reduce poverty and unemployment to the barest minimum through job creation and other social intervention programmes.

Mallam Fikpo urged the trainees to take the training seriously and master their trades in view of the stiff competition that they will face in the  market place.

In his response, a trainee, Mall. Yahaya Adama, who spoke on behalf of other trainees thanked NDE and the Federal Government for the gesture and promised to justify the huge investment in their lives.
