Chinonso Okonko marks two years of priesthood, calls for peace in Nigeria

…As he thanks God for his faithfulness

Reverend Father Christogonus Chinonso Okonko has celebrated his two years of priesthood with special thanksgiving to God who guided him throughout his journey to becoming a priest.

Rev Okonko who sent out his anniversary message to the media on Tuesday, 4th of May, 2021 from his base in Mbaise, Imo State disclosed that it was God who brought assistance when it was difficult and ensured that his vision of becoming a priest became a reality.

Okonko was ordained priest on the 4th of May, 2019, by the Apostolic Administrator of Ahiara Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, at Maria Mater Ecclesiae Cathedral, Ahiara, Mbaise, Imo State.

He stressed that there is need for people to come close to God, appreciate him and serve him in spirit and truth, maintaining that knowledge and application of the word of God is fundamental to national development and cohesion.

Okonko used the opportunity of his anniversary celebration to urge Nigerians to ensure that peace of God reign in their daily lives. He asserted that the people must pray as the surest means of reaching God.

He also said that as Nigeria is going through turbulent times, leaders should strive to find a balance to ensure peace in the nation.
