In protest to what it described as brutal killing of three of its sons and injuring of five others by the military, a Kwara group, Baruten Patriotic Agenda ( BPA), has called on the Governor of Kwara state,  AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq to act within seven day to bring to book and punish all the soldiers that were involved in the killings.

The group in an open letter to the governor,  which was made available to The AUTHORITY accused soldiers attached to the State border drill unit, of unleashing terror on the people of Ilesha Baruba in Baruten Local Government Area of the state,  and killed three young men as well as injuring many others.

The incident, which happened  on Friday, January 08, 2021, BPA noted, has hitherto, created insinuations that the lives of the young men do not matter to the government of Kwara state following its reluctance towards finding out the soldiers involved and making them face the law.

BPA in the protest letter regretted that the community would have choice than to take its own actions,  if the Kwara state government fails to take action within seven days to bring the killer soldiers to book.

BPA  in the protest letter which was signed by eleven members,  which included Mallam Adamu Sidi Oumar
(President) ,  Comr. Musa Idris Buko (Vice President) , Dr. Abdulhamid Ibrahim Sabia pai (Director, Research and Strategy) Dr. Abdulkareem Alaska (Member)  Barr. Usman Aliyu Banara(Legal Adviser) ,  Ibn Mahmud Haruna Geo, Esq (Member), Comr. Jibril Aliyu Sexo (Secretary)  Barr. Karimat Sullivan (Member) Almajiri Umar Farouq Idris  (Director, Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication)  Barr. Usman Shehu Usman, (Member)  Mallam Zakari Baba Yusuf, (Member),  noted that the group has never wavered in its unflinching support for the success of Governor Abdulrazaq led administration in the state since 2019.

“BPA’s unflinching support to your administration has always been based on her conviction about Your Excellency’s ability, openness and competence in the managing the affairs of the state where law and order triumph, individual freedom is guaranteed and social and economic well-being of every Kwaran, irrespective of tribe, religion or local government of origin, is ensured.

“Your Excellency sir, that the support of BPA lies with your administration to succeed and her confidence remains unshaken, however, the group, in recent times, became worried about Your Excellency’s deliberate reticence over the heartless and unprofessional killings and injuring of some youths of Kwara North i.e youths of Ilesha-Baruba in Baruten LGA of the state.

“Sir, your apparent silence over this ugly incidence is betraying the trust of the people of the community and Barubibu from all over the world owing to the concerned you have shown to some victims of similar shootings in Ilorin during the 2019 campaign.

“Your Excellency sir, we are using this medium (public letter) as last resort hoping that you will wake up to the matter and deploy all the necessary arsenals to ensure justice and adequate compensation to the victims.

“Mr. Governor sir, the next seven (7) days will be our last thrust. An opportunity to regain the people’s confidence and trust confided in you through the ballots at the 2019 general elections.

“it is important to state here, in clear terms, that BPA will be compelled to seek justice elsewhere or by other legal means on failure to act within the 7 days ultimatum, ” the group warned
