How bad weather caused air crash that killed Chief of Army Staff

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and some of his aides have died in a military air crash as it landed at the Kaduna Airforce Base in Kaduna on Friday evening.

Unconfirmed reports said his wife was also in the aircraft.


The aircraft was said to have run into a very bad weather occasioned by rain.


Meanwhile, reports said the COAS was in the Nigerian Air force plane with seven other persons.


The plane according to reports crashed as it touched down the runway under very bad weather.


A press release by NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, said the incident occurred near the Kaduna International Airport.


“An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon,” he said.
