DSS deny picking up Ijaw leader

By Chuks Oyema-Aziken

The Department of State Services, DSS, has come out to say it has no hand in the alleged abduction of the President of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Comrade Peter Timothy Igbifa.
Igbifa was reportedly picked up by suspected masked men.

DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, has however denied any involvement.

“The DSS has nothing to do with the alleged arrest or whisking away of President of Ijaw Youth Council, Comrade Peter Timothy Igbifa by suspected masked men,” he said.

Igbifa was billed to lead a protest in Abuja following the expiration of a one-week ultimatum his group issued to the FG to reconstitute the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC).

Igbifa had earlier issued advisory to all staff of multinational oil companies in the Niger Delta to vacate the region until the board of NDDC is inaugurated.
