Don’t initiate assault or reprisal action on public installations, personality, ADF advises Igbo youths

From Suleiman Afikpo, Abakaliki

The Alaigbo Development Foundation (ADF) has advised youths in Igboland against initiating an assault, or reprisal action on the military, the police, the security, governmental and public installations.

ADF in a statement dated June 3rd, but released Sunday, accused the federal government of foisting lawlessness and insecurity in Igboland, but warned the youth against instigating violence or attacks on public institutions and persons, while not shirking away from self-defence.

The statement which was titled “Declaration of Resolve by ADF” was signed by Prof. Uzodinma Nwala (President); Bishop Obi Udezue Onubogu (Chairman, ADF-BOT); Dr. Onyi Gbujie (Acting Secretary), and Comrade Abia Onyike (Chairman, Publicity Bureau). The ADF called on Igbo people to rise up and defeat “a conquest agenda”, while “preventing anarchy in Alaigbo”.

They stated that while saying “no to anarchy in our land, we shall not and never will we surrender to the Invaders!”They advised Ndigbo to engage in “pre-emptively robust self-defense”, adding that, “we must defend the land bequeathed to us by our Ancestors.”However, we must not, unwittingly, allow anarchy into our land and space”.

ADF added: “Our innocent youth have been egregiously aggrieved, unquestionably. However, we urge our youth to not, ever, initiate an assault, or reprisal action on the military, the police, and security, governmental and public installations, without justifiable provocation!”We urge our Youths – Dutifully defend our cities, communities, religious installations and symbols, our forests, farmlands, and rivers with patriotic courage!

“They accused President Muhammadu Buhari of double standards, alleging that “while his home state Katsina, is daily ravaged by various bandits including Boko Haram, President Buhari’s soldiers and their allied herdsmen are abducting and killing innocent youth from Alaigbo and other Christian parts of the country”.

They further classified President Buhari’s recent speech against Ndigbo as “a classic case of hate speech”, adding that, “unfortunately while Twitter has recognized it for what it is, the National Assembly that is expected, as a body, to call Mr. President to order has maintained very embarrassing silence”.
