NSF: Bunubunu hails Obiano for monetary reward to athletes


Bunubunu Culture and Sporting Limited has hailed the Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano for his financial reward to the state athletes and coaches that won medals at the recently concluded National Sports Festival (NSF), tagged Edo 2020.


Governor Obiano had on Monday, June 8, 2021 announced a reward of a whopping N20m to the medalists and coaches.


Team Anambra won a total of 35 medals made up of 6 gold, 8 silver and 21 bronze medals  to finish 17th on the medals’ table  with Delta, Lagos and Edo states placing first, second and third respectively.


The Chairman / CEO of Bunubunu Sporting and Culture Limited, Izuchukwu Udegbunam noted that the Governor’s  gesture, will go a long way in motivating the athletes to win more laurels for the state in future.


According to Udegbunam, who also double as the Chairman, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Anambra State Chapter, sports development in the state has been on the rise since Governor Obiano’s administration which accounted for Anambra emerging as the best third placed state from the South East zone at the festival.


” Governor  Obiano has really done well in sports development in Anambra State. His recent financial reward to athletes who won medals  is commendable and will boosts them to do more as well as be a challenge to other athletes and coaches to do more”, said the founder of NCHE Security Checks and Crime Reporting APP


Gold medalist received the sum of N1m each, while silver and bronze medalists got, N500, 000 and N250, 000 respectively, while the coaches also received cash rewards of about N3.5 million ranging from N1 million for the best coach at the festival and N150, 000 to bronze winning coaches.
