Boko Haram fighters have come together with the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) under the leadership of one Aba Ibrahim Al-Hashimiyil AlKhuraishi.
Alkhuraishi was unanimously ordained as ‘Khalifan Muslimai’, translated as “The Leader of all Muslims.
This comes after Abubakar Shekau, former Leader of the factional Boko Haram sect committed suicide after a violent confrontation with some renegade ISWAP top commanders.
PRNigeria reports that after mending fences, fighters from both groups individually placed their hands atop one another, while chanting words of solidarity, to demonstrate their reuniting and togetherness.
Four insurgents, drawn from the defunct Boko Haram and ISWAP sects, in the clip, were seen pledging their loyalty to their new Commander while speaking in Arabic, Hausa, English and Fulfulde.
One of the speakers confirmed the report that intelligence services played critical roles in creating divisions in the camps of the terrorists when he claimed that, “the enemies succeeded in dividing us, but we are now back.
The coming together of the two groups is expected to intensify attacks.According to one ISWAP fighter, who was wielding a sophisticated gun hung on his neck, thundered: “What is left now is Jihad. We will not stop fighting the unbelievers. All the disbelievers have entered trouble.”
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Major General Faruk Yahaya has charged troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI to destroy all Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists’ enclaves in their various locations.
The COAS made the statement while addressing troops of Sector 2 in Damaturu, Yobe State.
He enjoined the troops to use wealth of experience and lessons learnt from the series of operations to destroy the remnants of marauding terrorists within their various locations. He assured them of improved welfare and a new reward system for troops who perform gallantly in any operation.
