INEC shifts date for physical CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday announced a new date for the commencement of its planned physical Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), exercise

A statement issued by the Commission’s National Commissioner in charge of Voter Education and Publicity,  Festus Okoye, said the exercise which was easier scheduled to commence on Monday July 19, has been adjusted , to begin on Jul 26, 2021.

Okoye noted that the commission met Friday 15th July 2021 and deliberated on a number of issues including the commencement of the physical registration of voters and the scheduled appointments by online registrants.

It would be recalled that the commission had at its meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners,  earlier this week  noted that the commencement of physical registration of voters scheduled for Monday 19th July, 2021 might be affected by public holidays

“With the declaration of Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st July 2021, as public holidays by the Federal Government the date scheduled for the commencement of physical registration have to be adjusted. Consequently, the physical registration of voters will now commence on Monday 26th July 2021”.

“Online registrants that have scheduled appointments from 19th July 2021 to 23rd July 2021 will have their appointments rescheduled”.

“It is important to emphasise that this Continuous Voter Registration will take place over a period of one year. The commission assures all Nigerians that no citizen eligible to register as a voter will be left behind”, he added.
