Plane mishap: Ilorin Airport resumes flight operations

The Ilorin International Airport resumed normal flight operations yesterday after a 24-hour partial shutdown.

The airport was temporarily shut on Friday morning when an Air Peace B737-500 plane from Abuja suffered a burst tyre while landing at the airport.

Other airlines had to cancel their flights, while the affected aircraft was evacuated on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday morning, the airport was filled to capacity with passengers whose flights had been rescheduled since Friday.

A large turnout of passengers was observed at the departure hall of the airport.

An airport official attributed the large crowd to the flight cancellations in the previous days, which resulted to accumulated flights build-up.
