He acknowledged the importance of the celebration, nothing the challenges faced by the Youths in the society.

“International Youths Day is very essential to our society, reason being that while commemorating that day, we use same avenue to look at the challenges that the Youths are facing, the bottleneck, the impediment that is distorting growth to the youths.

“We must go into proper youth development. As a government in Rivers State, you are aware that the Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has done much in the educational sector, giving room for youth development. You are also aware of the Realmadrid Academy, this is an epic for youth development.

“The Governor has generated alot of useful employment, both direct and indirect in the state and he is even willingly to do more.

“For us in the state, we are coming up with one youth, one skill project and this projet is targeted at developing the youth. We want to introduce the Rivers skill market, an avenue where those that have been developed and brought to face those that needs their expertise”.

Speaking on the theme “Transforming the food system”, Obi noted that the youth celebration will bring about positive changes for both human and the planet.

He noted that the concentration on agriculture is timely, following the food crisis and environmental degradation faced across the country.

“We are talking about sustainable agriculture and preserving the ecosystem: meaning that the world is looking at avenue where youths will be innovative, where youth will raise concern on how to build sustainable agriculture, thinking towards an agricultural system where our ecosystem will also be preserved”.

The youth development commissioner however, called on all sectors, multinationals, cooperate organizations, individuals and government at all levels, to see how best to develop a good workable and visible framework that will cause a strong development in the life of the Youths.
