FG ll’ digitalize nation’s Economy soon- Perm assures

Communications and Digital Economy ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bitrus Bako Nabasu has assured Nigerians that the federal government  would insure the realization of digitalization of the nation’s economy within the shortest time frame through his ministry.

In a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Philomena Abiamuwe, the Permanent Secretary, who assumed office last week had at a town hall meeting with the Staff of the Ministry on Monday, promised to provide better working environment for the Staff in order to achieve the implementation of decisions and policies set by government for the Nation.

“The essence of Service is the implementation of decisions and policies set by Government”, he opined.

Nabasu while acknowledging the achievements of the Ministry urged the Staff to support the Hon. Minister in his drive to achieve the targets set for him by President Muhammadu Buhari. 

He further urged the Staff to cooperate and support him in order to build on his past achievements over the past couple of years.

The permSec therefore called on the Staff to leverage on the advantages which the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy offers in the area of digitalization of the Nation’s economy in order to achieve the mandate of the Ministry and hasten the development of the national economy.

According to him, “the Service to the Nation cannot be adequately   remunerated; it is a Service of Sacrifices”. He emphasized the need of building the economy of Nigeria through the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy “to write our name on the sands of time”.

He further, disclosed that the prices of crude oil has been fluctuating in the global market, noting that the advent of COVID-19 is an ‘eye opener’ to Nigerians to know that the time has come for us to diversify our economy and that we can no longer depend on oil alone to prosper as a Country. 

He urged the Staff to be committed to their duties, punctual and work with sincerity. 

Bitrus Bako, while responding to the avalanche of issues earlier raised by the Staff of the Ministry, assured that he would work in collaboration with the Management to liaise with relevant authorities concerned to ensure that they are adequately addressed.

According to him, his emphases would be on the provision of working tools, conducive environment, and training of Staff as much as the available resources can take in order to add value to their lives and they in turn add value to the system.

Speaking earlier, the Director who was overseeing the office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr. (Mrs) Nonye Nwachukwu thanked and appreciated the Staff for cooperating with her during the short period of overseeing the office of the Permanent Secretary. 

She assures the Staff that the coming of the Permanent Secretary, Mr Nabasu to the Ministry is indeed a new down of love and peace among Staff.  He described the Perm Sec as a man with reputable leadership qualities, experienced, intelligent and very peaceful. 

Dr. (Mrs) Nwachukwu, Director (PRS) enjoined all Staff to therefore support and rally round the Perm Sec with every sense of commitment and dedication so as to achieve the mandate of the Ministry.
