The Rotarian Action Group for Reproductive and Maternal and Child Health, recently donated some IUCD packs and contraceptives to ten selected health facilities in Enugu state.
Making the donation to the Enugu State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Emmanuel Obi, the Zonal coordinator South east of Rotary International, POE Dan Ajawara who led other Rotarians during the presentation, told the commissioner that the donations were part of Rotary Nigeria interventions especially in the area of maternal , child health and family planning.
He complimented the state ministry of health for providing the conducive environment through which Rotary has continued to render services in the state.
He further informed the commissioner and others present that the humanitarian club has, over the years, provided trainings to health workers, trained family planning providers across the state and currently in the state to provide some medical instruments for FP services as well as donation of contraceptives to ten selected health facilities in ten different local governments of Enugu state.
These donations, Rotarian Ajawara said, are done simultaneously in all the 36 states of the federation and FCT, Abuja.
Receiving the items, the state commissioner of health, Dr. Obi thanked the Rotary family for the timely donation and other significant contributions towards improving health care services in the state.
He described Rotary International as a very strong partner to the state government, especially in the area of health services and implored the benefitting health facilities to ensure proper utilization of the donated items.
