Arrest of car thief: CP tells FCT residents insert additional security measures in cars

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Babaji Sunday, has  called on residents of the capital city to fortify their vehicles with additional security measures.

This is even as police detectives in the FCT have arrested a notorious car thief, Badawi Abdullahi Ahmed, who specializes in stealing vehicles from where they are parked.

The CP, however, reassures the firm commitment of the command to the protection of lives and property within the FCT.

According to a statement signed by the FCT Police Command Spokesman, Asp Daniel Y Ndirpaya,
 the 38-year suspect was arrested after a discreet investigation.

The suspect was said to have stolen one blue Toyota Corolla with registration number FKJ 625 DV from where it was parked at Aguiyi Ironsi street Maitama , Abuja, on Tuesday, August 24, 2021.

Upon receipt of the information, the statement explained, Police detectives from Maitama Division swung into action and trailed the suspect to Talata Mafara in Zamfara state where he was intercepted and arrested in possession of the stolen vehicle.
Exhibits recovered from the suspect include  one blue Toyota Corolla with registration number FKJ 625 DV, two keys suspected to be master keys and a bag containing mechanical tools.

The suspect, the statement said, will be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
