Rochas Foundation offers 59 indigent Nigerian scholarship slots to NUJ

The Rochas Foundation, at the weekend, offered 59 slots to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abuja Council, to select indigents Nigerians, who will benefit from the scholarship programme, to mark the 59th birthday of its chairman, Senator Rochas Okorocha.


Senator Okorocha, who made the disclosure when he hosted the leadership of the FCT Council of the NUJ at his Unity House Office in Abuja, said he believes that when Nigerians of means reach out to the needy, they would promote national cohesion peace and stability.


“I am 59 years old I want to offer 59 scholarships to your Council, it is your duty now to pick any of these Poor children, Orphan, of these 59 given to your Council, as a kick start in any of our schools in Zaria, in Sokoto, Kano, Yola, Calabar, Enugu, Ibadan, Jos, Bauchi, Owerri, Ovoko, etc.


“This Council should Identify this and send the list to us, am marking my birthday first, with the Nigerian Journalists, the FCT chapter, am giving you 59 scholarship to build our partnership,” he told the members of the NUJ FCT Council, who were led by the Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche.


The FCT NUJ had earlier nominated Senator Rochas Okorocha, for the NUJ Award on Service and Philanthropy, following the impact he has had on the education of Nigerians across the country.


The Council chairman thanked him for the gesture which would lift 59 children and empower them educationally.
